GRAND RAPIDS, Mi. - The Basketball Power Rankings Committee, under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. Brandon Kinsey, has released the latest standings for Region XIX.
 
Division II Men
1. Essex
2. Rarifan Valley
3. Salem
Essex County College retains the #1 spot despite their 4-point loss on Thursday night at the County College of Morris.  Raritan Valley holds down the #2 spot on the basis of their 9-game winning streak, while Salem takes over at #3.  The Oaks have gone 4-2 in January, including winning 2 out of 3 on the road.
 
DII Women
1. Union
2. Lackawanna
3. Harcum
Union County College holds onto the #1 spot, despite a 7-point loss at home to Harcum.  The Owls are 4-2 in January and lead Region XIX with a 12-1 record.  Lackawanna is the #2 team, sporting a 3-game win streak and an impressive 7 road victories.  Harcum is the new #3, fresh off an upset of #1 Union, Harcum has won 5 straight and has an impressive 7-1 road record.
 
DIII Men
1. Camden
2. Brookdale
3. Ocean
Camden takes over the top spot ... winners of 4 staight, the Cougars are 15-2 in the Region.  Brookdale drops to #2 after falling to Atlantic Cape, 90-86, on Thursday night.  The Jersey Blues are undefeated at home, but only 2-3 in their last 5 road games.  Ocean holds the number 3 spot by the slimmest of margins over Atlantic Cape Community College.  The Vikings own an impressive victory over Brookdale, but are only 4-4 in the month of January.
 
DIII Women
1. Northampton
2. Ocean
3. Brookdale
Northampton takes over the top spot on the basis of their 7-game winning streak and victory over Ocean on December 17th.  Ocean takes the #2 spot, the Vikings are riding a 5-game winning streak and own 2 victories over Brookdale.  The Jersey Blues, the defending Regional Champs are 3rd, but remain very dangerous, especially given that the regional tournament will be played on their home court.  February 2nd and 4th will go a long way to clearing things up, as Northampton hosts Brookdale and then travels to Ocean.
 
The BPR is a subjective measure of a team's overall strength based on overall record, strength of schedule, region record, performance on the road and national polls.
