Men's Tennis - Mon, Mar. 26, 2012

LINCROFT - The Brookdale Community College men's tennis team opened up its 2012 campaign with a convincing 9-0 win over Williamson Trade to give head coach Rich Karpinski the most men's tennis coaching victories in program history.

After tying the record at 180 wins with a 9-2 record last season, Karpinski, now in his 23rd year at the helm, surpasses the former Brookdale tennis coach, Kevin Hayter (180-46), with 181 career victories.

Karpinski, who has enjoyed five back-to-back undefeated seasons (2000-2004) during his tenure, has produced 10 National Champions (seven singles and three doubles teams).  Most recently, his 2011 squad garnered a National runner-up honor, while winning the National crown at the number one, two and six singles (Tom Wolski, Rich Fitzsimmons and Harry Block, respectively) and number one doubles (Wolski and Fitzsimmons).
