In a period of eight days, Lackawanna College pitchers recorded two no-hitters. On Tuesday, April 24th, Chris Kirsch claimed a 15-0 shutout victory over Burlington Community College striking out 11 walking 3 and surrendering no-hits. The previous Tuesday, April 17th, Adam Davis held Monroe College hitless in a 4-0 shutout. In that contest Davis struck out 6 and walked 3.
In his last two appearances, Kirsch has pitched a total of 14 innings, struck out 20, relinquished 2 hits surrendered 0 runs and was credit with the win in each of those contests. Yesterday's win was his 6th of the year; his only loss of the season coming at the hands of Parkland College on March 3rd; his initial start during the 2012 campaign
The Falcons now have a win/loss record of 37-9 overall and 10-0 in Region XIX Division II play. In the last 29 games they are 27-2. During those 29 games, they had a winning streak of 12 games before their two losses to Gloucester. After those losses they started a new streak that is presently at 15. Lackawanna has swept 12 doubleheaders and have themselves been swept in 2 twin bills. Oddly, they have not split any of their doubleheaders. The Falcons are scheduled for a crucial home doubleheader this weekend against Mercer County Community College. Mercer is the only team left who can deny the Falcons a first place seed in the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. Ironically, a split of that twin-bill clinches that top seed for Lackawanna.
