At Peckville, Pennsylvania, Davonta Farrell scored on a 43 yard quarterback sneak; and Harry Williams scored from 72 yards out, to lead Lackawanna College to a 36-6 win over Globe Institute of Technology It was the Falcons home opener and improves their overall win/loss record to 2-0.
In addition to his 46 yard sprint to the end zone, Farrell also barreled in from 6 yards out to record his second score of the game. With today's scores, Farrell has thrown or rushed for 8 touchdowns in the two contests he has participated in during the 2012 season. In addition to the Farrell and William scores, two other Falcons scored touchdowns in the contest. Chris Martienz's scored when he recovered a Globe fumble in their own end zone and Gerald VanDecruz rushed for a 20 yard score in the fourth quarter. Troy Krepich contributed to the win with a 31 yard field goal and 2 extra points.
Both Williams and Farrell led the offense in rushing. Williams carried the ball 9 times for 121 yards and his TD, while Farrell attempted 10 rushes for 120 yards and his two scores. Farrell also completed 7 passes in 15 attempts, but suffered 2 interceptions. His primary receiver was Shahid Lovett with 2 catches for 32 yards. His remaining completions went to five separate receivers, who had one catch each.
Defensively, the Falcons had 12 sacks, Felix Small and Tedroy Lynch each had 3; Chris Martinez and Robert Herring contributed 2 apiece; while Steve Finley and Shittu Salami both recorded a solo sack. Imir Sanders registered Lackawanna's first pick of the season, returning it for 10 yards. Dayron Wilson led in tackles with 6, while Small registered 5.
Lackawanna plays again next Saturday at John Henzes - Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville. Their opponent is Hudson Valley Community College; its first against a Northeast Conference foe during the 2012 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
