At Peckville, PA, a Imir Sander's 66 yard interception return for touchdown three minutes into the game sparked Lackawanna to a 61-0 victory over Hudson Valley Community College. The win came in Lackawanna's Northeast Football Conference Opener, and bettered their overall win/loss record to 3-0. Sander's TD return was the first of three that Lackawanna recorded in their contest. With ten seconds left in the first quarter, Sheldon Robinson intercepted a pass and returned it 52 yards for a score; while Unte James ended the scoring for the Falcons with a 56 yard interception return to the end zone.

In addition to the defensive squad's three touchdowns, six separate Falcons scored in the game. In the first quarter, Brendan Linder caught a 3 yard scoring pass from Davonta Farrell. In the second period, Kevin White took a Farrell pass 83 yards for a score. In the third quarter, both Harry Williams and Farrell rushed for touchdowns; Williams carried the ball 17 yards for a score, and Farrell scored from 2 yards out. In the final period, with second team offense in the game, backup quarterback, Mike Calabro and running back, Garfield Dandridge both scored from the two yard line.

Offensively, three Lackawanna runners contributed to the bulk of the team's rushing yards. Gerard VanDeCruz rushed for 77 yards on 2 attempts; Harry Williams carried the ball 13 times for 73 yards; and Jaymar Anderson recorded 67 yards on 5 carries. In the air, Davonta Farrell only threw 5 passes and completed 2 for 87 yards and 2 TDs. Kevin White led the receivers with 1 catch for 84 yards and a touchdown; while Maciej Mazur caught 1 for 8 yards and Brendan Linder gathered in a toss for 3 yards and a TD.

Defensively, Garth Lakitsky led the team in tackles with 7 solos and 1 assist. He also broke up a pass. In addition to his interception, Imir Sanders recorded 4 solo tackles and also broke up a pass. Lackawanna recorded 5 team sacks, two of which were credited to Tedroy Lynch. Also recording one sack each were Dayron Wilson, Nate Davis and Steve Finley.

The Falcons take the field again next Saturday when they host conference rival Louisburg College. Next week's game will be played at John Henzes-Veterans Memorial Field in Peckville, Pennsylvania, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 PM.
