Peckville, PA - ASA scored twice in the 4th quarter to break open a defensive game which saw the score tied at 3-3 until the 11:24 point in the 4th quarter. ASA scored first when they ended their first drive of the contest on Cherche Aloema's 22 yard field goal. The score remained at 3-0 until Noe Herrera tied the score with a 28 yard field goal with 5:46 left in the third period.
In the fourth quarter, ASA scored the first touchdown of the game when they drove 29 yards on 10 plays to score on a 1 yard William Hosey run. The play that proved to be the Falcons' down fall took place on the ensuing kickoff. Lackawanna muffed the kick only to see ASA recover the live ball at the Lackawanna 21 yard line. On the very next play, with 11:16 left in the game, the Avengers scored on a 21 yard touchdown pass from Dan Pietrangelo to Jesse Yorke. Neither team scored for the rest of the game.
DeChavon Hayes proved to be the Falcons' most effective offensive players as he carried the ball seven (7) times for forty-nine (49) yards and caught two (2) passes for fourteen (14) yards. Kevin White led the team in receiving yardage with thirty-eight (38) on a single catch.
Sheldon Robinson was the defensive star of the game with nine (9) solo tackles. Garth Lakitsky continued his consistent play with seven (7) solo and one (1) assisted tackle. He also forced an ASA fumble. Dan Hursey contributed to the team's defensive efforts with four (4) solo and one (1) assisted tackle. Hursey stopped an ASA drive with an interception and ten (10) yard return.
The loss leaves the Falcons' with a 2-3 Northeast Football Conference record and 4-3 overall. Next Saturday, Lackawanna will take the field against Monroe College at John Henzes - Veterans Memorial Stadium. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM. It is the College's "Homecoming Game".
