Region XIX, NJCAA
Article VIII
Women's & Men's Awards


Section A
The executive Committee shall approve the appropriate plaques, trophies, medals and certificates.
Section B - Championship Team Awards
  1. The following sports shall be awarded a 14-inch plaque as approved by the Legislative Committee body. In those sports that a tie is possible, duplicate plaque will be awarded.
    • Baseball
    • Basketball
    • Cross Country (M & W)
    • Golf
    • Soccer (M & W)
    • Outdoor Track (M & W)
    • Softball
    • Tennis (M & W)
    • Volleyball
    • Wrestling
    The Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Tournament will be combined to include Regions X, XV and XIX. Indoor Track will be conducted as a meet with Regions XX and XV.
  2. All plaques are to be paid for by the college hosting the regional tournament. Where there is no tournament, the champion's college is responsible for paying for the plaque.
  3. First, the number of teams in the tournament will determine second and/or third place awards.
    Six teams or more - three places for plaques and medals.
    Four or five teams - two places for plaques and medals
    Three teams - first place plaque and medal.
  4. First and second place will be awarded a medal in each of six singles flights and three double flights.

Section C - Individual Championship Awards
  1. Individual championship medals shall be presented at the time of the championship tournament for the following sports:
    • Tennis
    • Cross Country
    • Indoor Track
    • Golf
    • Wrestling
    • Outdoor Track
  2. The medals shall be gold for first place, silver for second place and bronze for third place (where third is designated in the operating code).
  3. The medal shall be the NJCAA medal imprinted with Region XIX, sport and year, and shall have a red, white and blue ribbon attached. An appropriate box must also accompany the medal.
  4. The medals are to be paid for by the college hosting the tournament and shall be presented at the time of the championship.

Section D - All-Regional Team Awards
  1. Athletes selected for All-Regional honors will receive appropriate certificates.
  2. The number of all-Regional awards shall be determined by the operating code of the particular sport.

Section E - Awards for Championship Team Members
  1. The college winning the team championship shall have the privilege of providing members of the team with individual awards not to exceed $18.00 per award.
  2. The awards shall not be presented at the site of the championship tournament.

Section F - All-Tournament Awards
  1. All-Tournament team and/or All-Tournament MVP awards are to be presented at the site of the tournament for the following sports:
    • Baseball
    • Basketball
    • Softball
    • Volleyball
  2. "MVP Offensive" and "MVP Defensive" awards will be presented for soccer.
  3. The number of awards is to be determined by the operating code of the particular sport involved.
  4. The awards are not to exceed $18.00 in cost.
  5. The Vendor Conference Medal and Trophy Inc. plaque #1201A shall be the official "All-Tournament award for Region XIX.
  6. MVP awards will be presented at the conclusion of Region tournaments noted in F1. The award will be the Conference Medal plaque #1233A, engraved "All-Tournament MVP."

Section G - All-Star Awards
The members of the Coaches All-Star team shall receive a certificate of participation.
Section H - Designation of Awards
  1. All awards other than medals shall have the NJCAA seal attached and shall be imprinted with Region XIX sport or figurine and year.
  2. In tournament where the Most Valuable Player or other honor (i.e., high scorer) is recognized, the award is to be supplied by the host college and shall not exceed $18.00 in cost. These special awards shall be imprinted with the NJCAA seal, Region XIX, sport, year and name of award.

Section I - Ordering Awards
  1. The Awards Committee Chairperson will order all Regional awards as approved by the Executive Committee except individual awards to championship team members.
  2. The Host College shall be billed directly for all awards as outlined above.
  3. Awards shall be ordered by June 30th.
  4. It is the responsibility of each tournament director to contact the Awards Committee Chairperson and double check on ordering.

Section J - Coach of the Year
The coach of the winning Region team is designated "Coach of the Year." If co-champions are awarded, co-coaches will be designated.
Section K - Academic All-Region

Each Region XIX athlete who achieves a 3.25 average or better during a semester of athletic participation will receive an Academic All-Region Certificate. All courses must be included.AWARD BREAKDOWN

GPA Criteria: 3.5 or higher
Athletic Achievement Criteria: All Region, All Conference or All American recognition.
College Campus Contributions: e.g. club memberships, office held, assisting in college departments, etc
College credits earned: at least 36, transcript required

Region Specifics:
Nominations of one male and one female per college will be called for by the Region Awards Chair yearly on or by May 15
Nominations due to Awards Chair by June 15.
Winners announced by July 1.
