Garden State Athletic Conference - Basketball
Section 1 - Scheduling
Each college within a division shall schedule for double round robin play. All schedules must be completed by November 1st. If the AD’s cannot agree on dates by November 1st the GSAC committee chair will adhere to the following: the chair will review the problem along with the committee. The purpose of the review will be to determine the validity of the disagreement. If there is no valid justification, the game will be played according to the date shown on the agreed upon master schedule. If there is no agreed upon master schedule, the committee will determine a game date. Division I & II is to be called the Blue Division, Division III the Gold North Division and the Gold South Division

C.) Teams that tie for championships will be declared conference champions.
D.) Failure to schedule according to the provisions of this section could prevent the institution from winning the conference championship.
Section II - Rules
A.) NCAA Rules of play will be followed (including experimental rules where applicable).
B.) N.J.C.A.A. eligibility rules will govern all participation.
C.) A team arriving near or after the scheduled starting time will be given at least a ten-minute warm-up period.
Section III - Conference Championships
A.) A plaque will be given to the team or teams from each conference with the best won/lost record during the double round robin play against member colleges.
B.) In case of tie, multiple championship plaques will be awarded.
Section IV - All-Conference Team
A.) The chairperson of the G.S.A.C. Basketball Committee will correspond with member schools in order to select the All -Conference Teams by Division alignment.
B.) The All-GSAC team will be selected by the balloting of all GSAC coaches within their respective Divisions:

C.) All member colleges may nominate up to 3 of their players for consideration on the All-Conference Team. The names, year in college, and other pertinent statistics and data must be submitted to the Basketball Committee Chairperson at a date to be announced. The Chairperson will then devise a master list to be redistributed to all member colleges according to Division alignment.
D.) The All-GSAC teams will coincide with the Region Balloting Proceedures and results only including the GSAC nominees. Coaches may not vote for their own players. After tallying, the number of players selected will be determined by the following criteria:
- 4 Teams or Less
- 5 Player Team (*)
- 5-8 Teams
- 7 Player Teams (+)
- 9 or More Teams
- 8 Player Teams
No more than 2 players, may be selected to 1st Team. No more than 3 players may be selected to 1st Team. This procedure is subject to yearly review and adjustment as deemed appropriate.
E.) Numerical ties for a rank placement will be broken by awarding the higher place to the player listed on the greatest number of ballots. If this still results in a tie, then the player receiving the most first place votes (or highest place obtained by the players) will be awarded the final position.
F.) All players named shall receive a certificate indicating appropriate Team and Division designation.
G.) Coaches cannot vote for their own players. Coaches not voting by the appointed deadline will have their players dropped from consideration for the All G.S.A.C. team.
Section V - Regulations and Procedures
A.) The host school shall provide for all contests: Two nationally rated officials from a recognized basketball association to be assigned by a designated statewide assignor. A regulation basketball that conforms to N.C.A.A. rules. Provide six practice basketballs for visiting team. An official scorekeeper and timer. Provide for the visiting team water or liquid refreshments. This shall be available in the same manner as the home provides for itself. Whenever possible, it is recommended that a chalkboard be made available to the visiting team. Adequate security protection at all home games. A team arriving near or after the scheduled starting time will be given a ten-minute warm-up period. All GSAC teams will automatically forfeit a game if they arrive 30 minutes or more after the scheduled starting time of the game without advance notice.
Section VI - Coaches Ejection Statement
A.) If a coach is ejected from a contest involving any member of GSAC and there is no approved Board of Trustees representative designated by the Athletic Director present, the game is terminated at that point and forfeited to the opponent. The first ejection for a coach he/she is issued a warning. After the second ejection in the same season, the coach must sit out the next game. Should the second ejection occur in the final game of the season, the coach must sit out the first game of the following season.

Section VIII - Open Wounds
A.) In circumstances when constant or profuse bleeding occurs, the participant shall be immediately removed from that contest by the officials and cannot return until the bleeding has stopped.
Section IX - Code of Conduct
A.) The host institution must notify the athletic administrator of a visiting team if technical fouls were assessed to one or more of their players or coaches.
B.) A college-approved administrator must be present at all home contests involving GSAC teams.
C.) Security must be in attendance at all home contests.
D.) Teams will be directed to use separate exits and entrances at the beginning and end of each game.
E.) The end of the game handshake is not mandatory.
F.) A member of the coaching staff must be outside his/her locker room at the conclusion of each game.
G.) During the warm-ups, teams are restricted to their half of the court.
H.) Technical foul accumulations-Players who receive three (3) technical fouls during the season must sit the next regularly scheduled game. Each succeeding technical foul will result in an additional game suspension.
I.) Coaches who receive five (5) technical fouls during the season must sit the next regularly scheduled game. Each succeeding technical foul will result in an additional game suspension.
J.) It is recommended that the home team videotape all home contests; warm-up, game and post-game activities.
K.) In the event that an altercation should occur on the court, only the head coach may leave the bench. Assistant coaches are responsible for keeping their teams in their appropriate bench areas. Security and the athletic administrator on duty should ensure appropriate spectator behavior.
Section X - Coach of the Year
The Coach of the winning GSAC team will be named G.S.A.C. Coach of the Year. The Assistant Coaches of the winning team will be named GSAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
