Swimming and Diving
Section A - SITE SELECTION
College's wishing to host the Region XIX Swimming and Diving Championship must submit their request in writing to the Swimming and Diving Committee Chairperson at least one (1) week prior to the Region XIX winter meeting of the preceding year.
Section B - MEET DATES
The Region XIX Swimming and Diving Championship shall be held the two weekends prior to the first NJCAA Championship meet.
Section C - MEET EVENTS
- The Region XIX Swimming and Diving Championship will consist
of the following events:
50, 100, 200, 500 and 1650* yard freestyle
100 and 200 yard Backstroke
100 and 200 yard Backstroke
100 and 200 yard Butterfly
200 and 400 individual medley
400 medley relay
400 yard freestyle relay
800 freestyle relay
1 meter diving
3 meter diving
*To be determined annually at the coaches pre-championship meeting. - All places in all events will be based on a timed finish.
- The order of events will be:
First Day
a. *One meter Diving
b. 400 Medley Relay
c. 500 Freestyle
d. 50 Freestyle
e. 200 Individual Medley
f. 100 Butterfly
g. 100 Backstroke
h. 100 Breaststroke
i. *Three Meter Diving
j. 800 Freestyle Relay
Second Day
a. 200 Freestyle
b. 400 Individual Medley
c. 1650 Freestyle
d. 100 Freestyle
e. 200 Backstroke
f. 200 Breaststroke
g. 200 Butterfly
h. 400 Freestyle Relay
*Diving events can be placed in another order depending on circumstances. This should be decided at the Coaches meeting in the fall.
Section D - RULES AND OFFICIALS
- The NCAA Swimming Guide rules will be followed in conducting the meet with exceptions as noted by the Meet Director and approved by the Region XIX Swimming and Diving Committee.
- The host college will secure the services of all necessary officials and judges as required to properly conduct the meet.
- It is recommended that the host college have an electronic timing system, and the pool have a minimum of six (6) lanes.
Section E - FINANCES
- Each competing team shall pay its own expenses.
- A non-refundable entry fee of $3.00 per swimmer per event and $9.00 per relay will be charged and must accompany the entry form. There will be a minimum entry fee of $20.00 per College.
- The host institution shall pay all expenses for officials, awards, and other meet promotions, as necessary.
Section F - AWARDS
- See Awards Sports Code for meet awards.
- The first place finisher in each event will be designated All Region.
- If a woman finishes second overall, she shall be awarded a first place women's medal.
Section G - ENTRY DEADLINE
- A list of qualified entrants must be returned to the Meet Director at least one (1) week prior to the first day of the meet.
- Applications will be mailed out by the Meet Director so as to be received by prospective entering colleges at least two (2) weeks prior to the meet.
Section H - ELIGIBILITY
All entrants must meet the current NJCAA Eligibility requirements and have a proper eligibility form on file with the Region Eligibility Chairperson ten (10) days prior to the meet. An athlete in any contest involving a Region XIX college who is ejected for violent conduct or fighting shall not be allowed to participate in the next played contest as determined by the schedule of that institution. If this ejection occurs in the last contest of a given season, the suspension shall be in effect the first regular game of the player's next season. In the event of any player/coach ejection, an ejection report must be filed with the Region Director.
