Volleyball
Section A - REGULAR SEASON
- Matches will consist of two out of three or three out of five games..
- If triangular:
• First match: home team vs team traveling furthest.
• Second match: the two visiting teams.
• Third match: home team vs other visiting team. - NCAA rules will apply, unless superseded by operating code.
- Each match should be governed by two NCAA rated officials where possible.
Section B - DATE
The Regional Tournament will be held annually at least ten days to two weeks prior to the National Tournament. The tournament shall be played over a two-day period, if there are four teams. If there are less than four teams, the tournament will be held on one day.
Section C - SITE
- The site of the tournament will be awarded each year at the Spring Meeting of the Region.
- Bids made by colleges wishing to host the tournament must be submitted in writing to the Volleyball Chairperson prior to the Winter Regional Meeting.
Section D - ELIGIBILITY
- NJCAA Eligibility Rules will govern college and individual participants.
- In all cases, determination of eligibility will be under the jurisdiction of the Region XIX Assistant Director of Eligibility.
Section E - SELECTION OF TEAMS
- Four (4) teams will be selected for tournament play and the
selection of teams will be done as follows:

a. Teams will be ranked according to the Region Record by percentage.
b. Teams will be ranked according to Overall Record by percentage.
c. Teams record against other teams applying to the tournament.
d. Each team's rankings will be added, and up to four (4) teams with the lowest total points will be selected for the tournament.
e. In case of ties, the selection will be made on the basis of common opponents, not under consideration for the tournament.
f. If two teams play more than two matches, only two will count towards the Region Record. Additional matches will count towards the overall record.
g. Eligibility for selection requires that each Region team play all other Region teams at least once.
h. If any team selected declines its bid, the Volleyball Selection Committee will select an alternate team.
i.Colleges not reporting to their respective service bureau director by the due time because of emergency closures
(i.e. snow closure) will have 24 hours (next working day) from the due time and date to submit their report. If it is
known that the institution will be closed at the reporting time - the report should be sent prior to the closing and before
the due time. If at this time no report is received by the service bureau director a fine of $50 will be assessed (invoice sent by the service bureau director w/copy to respective region director, mens or womens and payment sent to respective region director). If no payment is received by respective region director 5 days prior to seeding meeting the offending college(s) will be placed at the bottom of the seed in that particular tournament. If there are more than one offending colleges a coin flip will determine their position. Teams that elect not to participate in a tournament and fail to report even one service bureau report during the course of the regular season will be reported to the Standards and Ethics committee. - The Selection Committee will consist of all members of the Volleyball Committee, and will meet the weekend prior to the date of the tournament.
- Only colleges returning applications for the tournament by the
deadline date will be considered eligible for selection.

a. The deadline date will be established by the Volleyball Chairperson
and he/she will notify all colleges of both the tournament date
and application deadline date.
b. All applications must b in writing and include an entry fee or purchase order for entry fee, team roster and team photo with personnel identified.
Section F - DUTIES OF HOST COLLEGE FOR REGION TOURNAMENT
- Arrange for two nationally rated NCAA officials for each game.
- Arrange for scores for each game.
- Provide game balls for each game.
- Provide practice balls for warm-up prior to each game.
- Make all arrangements in terms of courts and locker rooms.
- Provide bench towels, water and for participants.
- Make arrangements for the stationing and control of spectators.
- Purchase appropriate awards.
- With assistance of entry fees, be responsible for all expenses incurred in the direct operation of the tournament.
Section G - FEES AND EXPENSES
- The entry fee for the Region XIX Volleyball Tournament shall be established by the host college.
- Participating teams shall be responsible for all expenses incurred for housing, travel and meals.
Section H - RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR REGION TOURNAMENT
- The entry fee for the Region XIX Volleyball Tournament shall be established by the host college.
- The rally point scoring system will be in effect for the Region Tournament.
- The Volleyball Selection Committee will seed entries. The Volleyball Selection Committee will meet one week prior to the Region Tournament.
- The tournament will be a double elimination event.
- If only three teams qualify for the tournament, all games will be played on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
- No team shall play two (2) consecutive matches without a thirty (30) minute break.
Section I - ALL REGION TEAM
- Selection of an All-region team will occur after all teams have finished a complete season of play. The number of team members will be six (6) or the equal number of teams participating in the Region.
- The Volleyball Chairperson will send via mail a nominating ballot to each team coach.
- Coaches may nominate a maximum of three (3) players from their team.
- The Volleyball Chairperson will compile a list of all nominations and distribute the list as a ballot to all team coaches.
- Coaches may vote for six (6) players by awarding six (6) points to their first choice, five (5) points to their second, four (4) to their third, three (3) points and two (2) points, etc.
- The Volleyball Chairperson will tally the votes and announce the results.
- In case of a tie in the number of votes, the players involved will be named to the teams.
- Votes must be received thirty (30) days after the Region Tournament. Coaches who do not vote will have their college representative dropped from the ballot.
- Nominations must be presented by the date of the Regional Tournament.
Section J - AWARDS

- An award will be given to each All-Tournament Team member.
Section K - ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
- Will consist of six (6) players.
- Will be selected by a Committee appointed by the Tournament Director.
Section L - COACH OF THE YEAR
- The coach of the team winning the Region XIX Women's Volleyball Tournament will be named Region XIX Women's Coach of the Year.
Section H - Fines and Penalties
Colleges not submitting required reports by the due time because of emergency closures (i.e. weather closure) will have 24 hours (next working day) from the due time and date to submit their report. If it is known that the institution will be closed on the reporting date, the report should be sent prior to the closing and before the due time. If at this time no report is received a fine of $50 will be assessed (invoice sent by service bureau director, sport committee chair or director operating the service with copy to respective region director (men or women). Payment to be sent to respective region director. If no payment is received by respective region director 5 days prior to the region tournament seeding meeting, this offense will be reported to the Region Standards and Ethics Committee.
Section I - Ejections
An athlete in any contest involving a Region XIX College who is ejected for violent conduct or fighting shall not be allowed to participate in the next played contest as determined by the schedule of that institution. If this ejection occurs in the last contest of a given season, the suspension shall be in effect the first regular game of the player's next season. In the event of any player/coach ejection, an ejection report must be filed with the Region Director.
