Championship Events Committee

Committee Members:

 

The Championships Event Committee will include:

 

Chair: - Athletic Administrator designated by the Region Directors

(Ilene CohenOcean County College)

 

Assistant Chair –Athletic Administrator or Assistant designated by the Region Directors

(Brian Rowan – Gloucester County College)

 

Members: Jack Sullivan, Carey Monkowski, Bernard Johnson, Wayne martin, Brian Rowan and Ilene Cohen.

 

Operating Code:

 

Section A.

The Championships Events Committee will announce each year during the Winter meetings what sports will need a host site for the following academic year.

Section B.

Each site selected will host the Championship for 2 years.

Section C.

If a sport will be coming to its 2nd year of hosting at the end of the given year -each institution interested in hosting a future Championship Event must submit by April 15 to the Chair of the Championship Events Committee an application of interest in hosting in each particular sport.  (This application must include number of fields, field condition (turf etc.) court dimensions number or courts available and condition, Course information. Name of Site if off Campus, if using 2 facilities that will be on site supervisor at each location, Hotels in area, spectators seating area available. Security when needed. Photos are acceptable and any other information in support.)

Section D.

The committee will review applications of interest and announce location at the Spring Region meeting. (If a committee member institution has sent an application of interest they will be removed from the selection process of that sports site selection.)

Section E.

An athletic trainer must be available at all times where region tournament play is occurring.  Including if a host school is using 2 locations ie softball fields, baseball fields.  Region XIX encourages  host colleges to secure additional athletic trainers from neighboring colleges who might have full time athletic trainers to assist with the many hours of coverage  that  regional tournaments may require.

Section F.

Championship Events committee will ask Region institutions located near selected site, yet teams is not participating to send a representative to each tournament location acting as the Region Spokesperson / onsite personnel when members of executive committee are unavailable. (mileage/tolls will be reimbursed by the region based on current IRS rate).

Section G.

Sports that host a District playoff/championship must have a neutral representative within Region XIX on site. (Neutral: non participating institution representative)

Section H.

It is recommended that at each site there be a hospitality area for “VIP” of institutions, region, officials and coaches in the tournament.
