PARAMUS, NJ - Tomas Dlugozima of Bergen Community College was recently named a First Team All-American, after placing first in the javelin at the NJCAA national chamionships held at Alfred State College.
 
Dlugozima, who broke the school record in the javelin with a throw of 58.40 meters, was also awarded Bergen's Sportsmanship Award for his hard work and dedication to the Bulldog athletic program.

ALFRED, NY - Region XIX was well represented at the recently completed NJCAA Division III Track and Field Nationals, held at Alfred State College.
 
Gloucester County College finished 5th on the men's side and 7th in women's to lead all Region XIX schools.  Stevens Tech placed 8th in men's, while Bergen Community College finished 15th in men's and 21st in women's and Middlesex County College was 19th in men's and 18th in the women's competition.
 
Individually, Gloucester's Ozzie Huerta won the men's track athlete of the meet award, winning three national championships.  Huerta set new meet records in the 5,000 (15:10.92), and the 3,000 steeplechase (9:28.34) along with winning the 10,000.
 
On top of Huerta's two meet records, Christina Lees of Gloucester set a meet record in the pole vault with a winning height of 3.18 m.
 
Joe Kalnas of Gloucester was honored as assistant coach of the year.
 
Harper College (IL) captured both the men's and women's national championships.
