The Mercer CC Vikings Women's Tennis Team captured the 2011 NJCAA Region 19 Championship by winning four of their six final round matches Sunday at Gloucester County College. The Vikings also captured the individual singles title (Alison Noll) and the doubles title (Noll/Ewa Szysko). The team was challenged most closely by Ocean CC that finished the tournament with eight team points, two behind Mercer CC's winning total of 10.

Noll was the dominant player in the tournament dropping only one game on the way to the singles title and not dropping a set along with her partner Szysko in the doubles event. Mercer was also aided by depth and players that improved over the course of the season. They picked up points by also winning the singles titles at #5 (Kelly Tanzone) and #6 singles (Alina Vituknovskaya).

Mercer will represent Region 19 at the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament October 26-28 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.

SEWELL, NJ - Ocean CC finished second at this weekend's NJCAA Region 19 Women's Tennis Tournament hosted by Gloucester County College. The Vikings won individual championships at #3 singles (Ann Marie Wodell), #4 Singles (Kaitlyn SCrudato) and #2 Doubles (Wodell/Mikaela Louise Chua) and finished with a team total of eight points.

Mercer CC took the lead after the first day of play at the 2011 NJCAA Region 19 Women's Tennis Tournament. On a sunny but very windy day at Gloucester County College the Vikings won six of their nine semifinal matches to and will enter the final day of play with a slight lead over second place Ocean CC.
