Scranton, PA – The Baltimore Raven selected former Lackawanna running back, Lorenzo Taliaferro, in the fourth round of today's National Football League Draft. Taliaferro was the 138th pick of the draft and sixth player drafted by the Ravens. He joined Crocket Gillimore of Colorado State as the only offensive players Baltimore picked during the first four rounds. Taliferro was the thirteenth running back taken.
The Virginia Gazette has reported that former Lackawanna College Fullback, Lorenzo Taliaferro participated in the recently concluded National Football League combine and impressed many of those in attendance. According to the article, "Pro Football Weekly senior editor Nolan Nawrocki gave Taliaferro a grade of 5.05. on a 10-point scale", it added," Players with rating of 5.01 or better have a "better-than-average" chance of making an NFL roster". Taliaferro said he met with representatives of approximately to 20 teams during combine and that the feedback he received from all of them was positive.
A 2012 graduate of Lackawanna College, Taliaferro carried the ball 95 times for 527 yards and 4 touchdowns; had 21 receptions for 261 yards and 5 TDs; and, returned 21 kicks for 579 yards and a score.
This week, three Lackawanna Falcons signed National Letters of Intent to play at NCAA Division I FBS schools in 2014. Jarell Broxton signed to play at Baylor University, Jermaine Eluemumor signed with SEC power Texas A&M, while Shahid Lovett signed with Temple University. Broxton and Eluemunor joined a long line of outstanding offensive linemen from Lackawanna who moved on to the Division 1 level. Since 2010, eleven Falcon offensive linemen have signed Division 1 scholarships; five have signed to Football Bowl Subdivision schools, and six to Football Championship Subdivision schools
Student Union – According to Sportsnetwork.com, former Falcon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, has been placed on the Payton Award Watch List based on his outstanding season as a running back for Coastal Carolina. The Walter Payton Award is awarded annually to the most outstanding offensive player in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) of college football as chosen by a nationwide panel of media and college sports information directors.
MEDIA, Pa- Lackawanna College Sophomore Quaterback Dylan Pasik has been named Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office this morning.
Pasik led the Falcons to a 41-38 overtime victory over Erie Community College on 10/5/13. Pasik accounted for all 5 of the Falcons touchdowns, 3 as a passer and 2 as a rusher.
