EDISON, NJ - Middlesex County College will unveil the Vincent DeSario Award, which recognizes the medalist from the Region XIX golf tournament, on June 28, 2011 at 11:00am in the Physical Education Center Building.
 
DeSario, a former Middlesex golfer, tragically lost his life last year.  The perpetual plaque in his honor, will recognize annually the top golfer from the Regional Tournament.
 
Mr. Robert Wisniewski, Director of Athletics at Middlesex, will conduct the ceremony, with Young Eom Han of Bergen Community College as the inaugural recipient.
 
Individuals interested in attending the ceremony should park in Lot #3, across from the PE Center.

CHAUTAUQUA, NY - Bergen Community College finished in 7th place at the 2011 NJCAA Division III Golf National Tournament, hosted by Jamestown Community College.
 
The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 1296 and were led by Jin Jeon who finished tied for 23rd with a 315.
 
Ocean County College finished 8th with a 1323, led by Adam Anton who finished tied for 33rd with a 320.
 
Monroe Community College (NY) won their 3rd consecutive national title, finishing with a 1216 overall score.

CHAUTAUQUA, NY - For the 12th straight year, Jamestown Community College will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III men's golf championship at Chautauqua Golf Club June 6-10.    
    
Practice rounds will be held on Monday June 5th with competition rounds scheduled Tuesday through Friday. Tee times are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. Team and individual score sheets will be posted. Several of the competitors are All-American and region medalists.
 

Thirteen teams will compete in this year's tournament; Bergen Community College (NJ), Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (OH), Dean College (MA), Genesee Community College (NY), Georgia Military College (GA), Jamestown Community College (NY), Monroe Community College (NY), Montgomery College (MD), Ocean County College (NJ), Rochester Community College (MN), Rock Valley College (IL), Rockland Community College (NY) and Sandhills Community College (NC).

Monroe Community College won the championship in 2009 and 2010.

Individual qualifiers will represent Adirondack Community College (NY), Anne Arundel Community College (MD), Brookdale Community College (NJ), Burlington County College (NJ), Butler County Community College (PA), Community College of Allegheny County - Boyce and South campuses (PA), Delaware Technical & Community College (DE), Dutchess Community College (NY), Louisburg College (NC), Madison College (WI), Minnesota State Community & Technical College (MN), Mohawk Valley Community College (NY), Onondaga Community College (NY), Orange County Community College (NY), Raritan Valley Community College (NJ), Southwest Wisconsin Technical College (WI), Suffolk County Community College (NY), and Ulster County Community College.

CAPE MAY, NJ - Bergen Community College captured the 2011 Region XIX Division III Golf Championship at Cape May National Golf Course, shooting a 625 to outdistance runner-up Ocean County College by 7 strokes.
 
Tom McGovern of Bergen was named Coach of the Year (Augie Eosso Award) and Young Eom Han of Bergen was the medalist with a 147, earning him the inaugural Vincent Desario Award.
 
Bergen and Ocean will represent the Region at the NJCAA National Tournament, along with the following individuals; Phil Villari (Burlington), Ricky Morgan (Brookdale), Mark Lyszczasz (Raritan Valley), Kyle Gross (Del Tech) and Cameron Sorsby (Brookdale).
