BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Director of Athletics Troy Tucker has announced that Joe Heitczman has been named Head Men's Soccer Coach at Northampton Community College.

Heitczman was the top assistant at East Stroudsburg University for 13 seasons, helping lead the Warriors to eight PSAC championships and eight NCAA tournament bids during his tenure on the sidelines.

"This is a tremendous hire for us," stated Tucker, "Coach Heitczman brings years of experience from the NCAA DII level where he was able to foster a number of relationships with high school coaches that will enhance our recruiting efforts.  He is well-respected in the soccer world and will now have an opportunity to lead his own program in one of the top NJCAA Region's in the country."

A former goalkeeper for ESU, Heitczman logged the most minutes in goal for the 1992 PSAC championship team and was also a member of the 1994 championship squad.  Heitczman is currently involved with FC Pocono, a club team in East Stroudsburg, and serves as the girls soccer coach at East Stroudsburg North.

A native of Monroe, NY, Heitczman earned his bachelor's degree in sport management in 1996.  He is married to the former Vicki Vaites, who was an All-American lacrosse player during her time at ESU and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2008.  The couple have a son Mason (9) and a daughter Johanna (5).

Heitczman replaces Ned Yelovich who stepped down after the season after guiding the Spartans to a 12-19-5 mark during his two years on the sideline.

Dugan, a graduate of Rowan University and Ocean City HS, is charged with the task of rebuilding a program that has struggled recently in the very competitive NJCAA Region 19 which annually boasts teams ranked in the national top ten polls.
