The Gloucester County College Roadrunners are the four-time defending NJCAA Division III National Champions and they will be in the running for a fifth consecutive title on Thursday at Collin College in Plano, TX. This year will be a little different for the Roadrunners though as they will be the underdog and trail by one point to both Nassau CC and Suffolk CC heading into the tournament's final day. Both Nassau CC and Suffolk CC have 21 total team points and will be in the final at five of the nine championship flights on Thursday. Gloucester CC has 20 team points and will be in the final of four of the nine championship flights. Play is scheduled to begin at 8am with the six singles championship matches followed by the three doubles championship matches.
Toms River, N.J. - The final results of the Region XIX Men's Tennis Tournament are in after three solid days of play at Mercer County Park. Gloucester took the team title with 22 points. Bergen and Brookdale followed up Gloucester with 17 and 8 team points respectively. Congratulations to all teams and best of luck at NJCAA Nationals at Collin CCC in Plano, Texas from May 11th through 16th!
The Gloucester County College Men's Tennis Team won four out of five singles matches today to clinch the NJCAA Region 19 Tennis Championship. This is the fifth Region 19 title for the Roadrunners in the past six years under Head Coach Brian Rowan. The Roadrunners defeated runner up Bergen CC in three out of four head to head matches today which helped propel them to the win. The team will now practice throughout the week and travel to Plano, TX on May 10th to begin play at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.
This weekend will crown a Region 19 Champion in Men's Tennis. Tournament play begins at 10:00 am on Friday, May 2nd at Mercer County Park. It should be exciting as a deep field will contest for the title. Bergen CC are the defending Region Champions and return three members from the championship team a season ago.
The Gloucester County College Men's Tennis Team made some history this week in Plano, TX at the NJCAA Division III National Championships. The team narrowly defeated tournament favorite Nassau CC by the slimmest of margins to earn their fourth consecutive National Championship. No other NJCAA Division III Men's Tennis Program has accomplished this "Four-Peat". This was the 24th overall NJCAA National Championship for Gloucester County College.
