MOORE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Brookdale Community College earned the number one seed for the upcoming Region XIX Softball Tournament, finishing with a 19-1 Region record.  The Jersey Blues will receive a bye to the championship round, as will #2 seed Ocean County College, who finished with a 16-4 mark.

In the tournament's opening round, #4 RCGC (15-5) will host 5th seeded Northampton (12-8) in a best of three series starting on Tuesday in Sewell, NJ at 3:30pm.  If a third game is needed, it will be played on Wednesday May 4th. The other opening round matchup features #3 Cumberland (15-5) hosting 6th seeded Middlesex (11-9).

The winner of the RCGC/Northampton matchup will meet Brookdale in one championship bracket, while the Cumberland/Middlesex winner will face Ocean.  Region XIX receives two automatic bids to the NJCAA Softball World Series, thus the winners of each bracket will advance to the NJCAA national championship.

Schnecksville, Pa. - Lackawanna College and Lehigh Carbon share Player Of The Year and Coach Of The Year honors in Softball. Lackawanna freshmen Barb Verrastro and Lehigh Carbon freshmen Madison Marshall were voted Co-Player Of The Year, while both of their coaches Jeff Pittsman Lackawanna College and Jennifer Shellhammer-Getz Lehigh Carbon Community College were also voted Co-Coach Of The Year. 

At the time of voting Verrastro a pitcher had a 13-4 record in 17 starts for the Falcons, she posted a 2.85 ERA with 123 strikeouts. Marshall a freshmen IF/OF has a .467 batting average and a .767 slugging percentage, she also hit 5 doubles, 2 triples and 3 homeruns at the time of voting.
