MOORE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Region XIX placed five players on the NJCAA Division III Softball All American Team, released Tuesday by the national office.
Kayla Rohm of RCGC, Kara Molnar of Ocean and Carly DiDonna of Cumberland each earned First Team All American honors, while Cassie Varvaro of Brookdale and Gabrielle Castellini of Cumberland were named to the Second Team.
Roadrunner Softball played four nail-biting close games at the NJCAA Division III World Series this week in Rochester, MN and finished in fourth place overall.
On the opening day of play, the team dropped Game 1 5-4 to Onondaga CC. The Roadrunners came back in the afternoon for a dramatic extra innings 7-6 win over Suffolk CC.
Day 2 saw the Roadrunners take on Region 19 rival Ocean CC and score a 7-6 walkoff win. The team was trailing 6-4 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. The final game of the tournament for the Roadrunners ended the way it started with a second loss to Onondaga CC this time by a score of 4-3.
RANDOLPH, NJ - The County College of Morris claimed the 2016 Region XIX Division II championship in thrilling fashion, as tournament MVP Briana Simko hit a walk-off two run homerun vs. Del Tech to give the Titans the title.
Morris advanced to the District K championship where they fell to Mercyhurst NorthEast, ending their season at 31-17.
