Carneys Point Twp., N.J. –Salem Community College has named Dan Sanchez Head Baseball Coach. Sanchez served as an assistant coach last year for SCC and brings an abundance of experience to the position. Prior to joining SCC, he helped start the Delaware Blue Coats Organization, a semi-pro baseball team, where he is a manager and franchise owner for the semi pro team as well as three travel teams. His 19 and under Delaware Blue Coats travel team won a National Championship in 2008.

A New York native, Dan excelled as a pitcher and first baseman for Saint John Evangelist and Saint Thomas Aquinas.  He has amassed over 20 years of coaching experience, and has coached at all levels including Brookside Babe Ruth, Salem Woods Independent League and Canal Little League.

Sanchez resides in Newark Delaware with his wife Praserta, and his two sons Mike and Nick.

First Team All American Cameron Johnson

Scranton, PA: The Lackawanna College Athletic Department and its Baseball Team are honored to announce that Cameron Johnson was named a NJCAA Division II First Team All American. During this past season, Johnson batted .377 and led all NJCAA Division II schools in RBIs with 71. He was second in the nation in homers with 15 and led the Falcons in triples with 6 and stolen bases with 27.

The highlight of Johnson's year came in the Region XIX Championship game when he stroked a two out, three run,  walk off home run to clinch Lackawanna's fourth straight Region XIX Division II Title During the regular season Johnson was named the NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week for games played during the April 8 -14 time period. During that week, he compiled a 2.000 slugging percentage, hit two doubles, a triple and six home runs. In those contests, he batted .625 (10-for-16) with 17 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

TRENTON, NJ - Mercer County Community College freshman shortstop Heath Fillmyer was taken in the 28th round by the Colorado Rockies in the annual major league draft conducted last week.

Fillmyer (Florence, NJ) is the second Vikings player to be drafted in the last three seasons, following James Pugliese who was taken in the 18th round in 2011 by the Chicago Cubs.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. - Region XIX placed eight players on the NJCAA Division III Baseball All-American team, as announced by the national office.

Jeff Singer (P), Narciso Cook (OF) and Tom Kain (DH) of national champion Gloucester County College each earned First Team honors, as did Brookdale Community College infielder Dean Wilson.

Camden County College pitcher Billy Jackson was a Second Team pick, while Dave Egeland (P) of Brookdale, and Camden's Brian Beyer (C) and Kyle Greene (IF) were Third Team honorees.

Gloucester County College Baseball used an 18 hit performance to defeat Century College 16-4 for the NJCAA Division III National Championship. For the Roadrunners, this is their 7th NJCAA Division III Baseball National Championship and 25th overall National Championship for the College. This has been an amazing year for GCC that includes now five NJCAA National Championship Teams.
